Kazakhstan Today – The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan is reviewing investment projects from Australian, Dutch, Ukrainian and other international companies. According to the Ministry’s press service, the Ministry of Agriculture is currently considering investment proposals for 15 projects. In particular, it is proposed to implement four projects aimed at creating a beef cattle breeding cluster with the participation of Austrian and German partners, Kazakhstan Today reports. Eurasia Agro Holding LLP is planning to build a meat-processing complex with an annual capacity of 17,000 tons of meat, including a production line for processing industrial waste. Investment projects from Australian, Dutch and Ukrainian companies are also under review for the construction of three poultry farms with a combined capacity of 90,000 tons, which will reduce imports of poultry products by more than 50%. “Projects in the production of dairy products and vegetable oils are being developed as well. For example, the implementation of oilseed processing projects will help solve problems faced by oilseed producers. As a result of ongoing crop diversification, in 2014 the area under oilseeds exceeded 2.0 million hectares for the first time. In this regard, the development of the processing sector has become essential. This will help avoid issues with selling raw materials, eliminate farmers’ dependence on price fluctuations, and ensure stable long-term demand. Moreover, developing the processing sector ensures higher added value, increases tax revenues, creates new jobs, and attracts additional investment,” the Ministry’s press service noted. The participation of well-known foreign companies is valuable both for the practical introduction and dissemination of modern technologies and for their established international sales markets, which help expand exports of Kazakhstani products. The total estimated cost of the projects is about 200 billion tenge. The main state support for these projects will be provided through new instruments, such as investment subsidies (reimbursement of part of construction costs) and interest-rate subsidies on bank loans and equipment leasing.
