Daniyal Akhmetov noted the ongoing growth of livestock numbers in the region, while emphasizing that the large meat-processing complexes of the past have become a thing of the past. “Of course, the processing complexes we used to have belonged to an earlier era. They truly disappeared like the mastodons of their time, because they lacked any technological sophistication. They consumed enormous amounts of energy,” emphasized Daniyal Akhmetov, Head of the East Kazakhstan Region, speaking at a CCS press conference in Astana. According to the akim, today this problem can be solved. Moreover, he stated that the most modern meat-processing plant will be built in Ayagoz. “What are we doing now? Most likely, we’re not even talking about the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk. We should be talking about the regions. To restore sheep numbers and ensure effective marketing of all livestock products, we are planning—and already working—on building a next-generation meat-processing plant worth 9.8 billion tenge in the city of Ayagoz. It will feature efficient technology and will process products from sheep farming and livestock breeding. Once such an enterprise is launched, everyone who owns livestock will have the opportunity to sell it,” he said.
